This online gallery features images from the TRYOUTS ZINE, a collaboration between photographer Slava Mogutin and new British menswear label, CV22 Rugby England. Slava was invited to visit Rugby as our artist in residence and to shoot our PROTOTYPE collection with our creative team and Rugby players from several local and national clubs.
TRYOUTS casting was organised through a street poster campaign, ads in local press, on social media, and by word of mouth. Over two dozen professional and amateur players showed up for the call and were invited to try out initial samples from our ready-to-wear collection that will be featured in full in Slava’s forthcoming book, RUGBY DADS & LADS, launching for Spring/Summer 2018.
For this project, Slava used several different formats, both analogue and digital, point-and-shoot as well as HD stills and video. Polaroids were taken with a vintage camera from a local thrift shop and signed by all the players who graciously participated in this shoot.
We’re proud to share with you this collaborative effort that represents Rugby’s rich history and the eponymous game tradition and team spirit native to our area. Please register to the newsletter to receive a free copy of the zine and notifications about the release of the book.
With love,
CV22 Rugby England
